In order to reach the oil in these far out and deep locations, Big Oil will have to look beyond the typical technology and the traditional materials that they’ve used for decades. In particular, steel will have to be replaced in numerous applications as its properties will limit the ability of Big Oil to get to the necessary depths where the oil resides.
