Zoltek's Take: This is exciting news for the wind industry, and in particular, offshore wind. As noted in this article, offshore wind turbines face a few challenges due to the harsh environments in which they work. Fortunately, using carbon fiber in the turbine blades can substantially reduce the risk and cost of using these large offshore turbines. As such, we expect that the blades on these turbines will utilize carbon fiber and we anticipate that that carbon fiber will be Zoltek carbon fiber.
