Zoltek's Take: While we have no interest in going after any of the primary aircraft structure business, we do find the secondary aircraft structure to be an attractive market for carbon fibers. This article illustrates the type of innovation that is going on in industries that require energy to move an object. Weight reduction is no longer a luxury…..it’s a necessity. We applaud Swiss International Airlines for their insight into ways to make their fleet more fuel efficient and better for the world’s environment. We believe this is only the beginning for the use of carbon fibers in secondary aircraft structures.
It’s important to note that these seats do not use Zoltek carbon fiber, however, as we look to enter the secondary aircraft structure market, these are the type of applications that we will go after.
