Zoltek's Take: From board rooms to Capital Hill, wind energy continues to be a popular topic, and rightly so. While tax incentives are helpful, we do not believe that the politicians control the fate of the wind energy market. Technology will be the driving force that makes wind energy competitive with other forms of energy, in particular, fossil fuels. In fact, wind energy is just about even with fossil fuels. The technology for raising the percentage of the United States’ energy needs provided by wind to 20% by 2030 exists and is being used today. To meet this goal, wind turbine manufacturing would have to increase 6 fold, which would be a great boost to the wind turbine industry.
Zoltek is the #1 provider of carbon fiber to the wind market and we will continue to run our company so that we will be at the forefront of that increase, to the extent that the use of large turbines/blades continues to grow.
